Featured Events

June Camping - Pack Family Camping at Illini State Park
Saturday, June 21, 3:00 p.m.
Come join us for some fun-filled Scouting Activities at our June Camp Outing! Cost is $5.00 per person (Meals will be provided by the Pack- Bring your own snacks). We'll be camping at Illini State Park (off of Route 80) in Marseilles (address: 2660 East 2350th Rd. Marseilles, IL 61341 Ph: 815.795.2448). The IDNR has a good website page about Illini State Park. Deadline to Register: June 6, 2008. There will be Games, Loop Activities, Hiking and Camp Fire Fun! Hiking in Baker Forest Preserve
Tuesday, June 24, 6:30 p.m.
Another evening hike - this one mid-week. Since many families take their vacations on the weekends, we'll be offering this mid-week hike in a little known Baker Forest Preserve off Route 52, five miles west of Shorewood. We'll meet at the Legion at 6:00 p.m. to drive down (so no one gets lost) and arrive at the Forest Preserve around 6:30 for a one-hour hike. Contact Kelly Markwell at kelly.markwell@gmail.com to let us know how many are coming.


Splash Station
Friday, June 27 - 11:30 - 8:00
To purchase your wristbands please send all money and attached forms to Kelly Markwell by Thursday May 29. Show your wristbands at the concession stand to pick up your meal. Splash Station Water Park, 2780 U.S. Route 6, (Near the Empress Casino)
Only $10 per person Meal included!
Limited Edition Patch available for an additional $1 per patch!

Joliet Jackhammers Games
Saturday, June 28
BSA Rainbow Council has reserved a block of Box Seats for our scouts, leaders and family members on Saturday, June 28 @ 7:05 p.m. We will all sit together in Box Seats and be welcomed on the video board and over the public address system during the game! In addition, we will all be able to enter the group raffle and all scouts and leaders in attendance will be able to participate in a pre-game parade around the playing field! Lastly, certain scouts and leaders will present the colors prior to the game and lead the crowd in “Take Me out to the Ballgame” during the seventh-inning stretch! Box Seats are only $10 each! Deadline for registration for this event is May's Pack Night.

Saturday, August 16

Rain Gutter Regata
Sunday, July 6 - 1:30 - 8:00
It's summer and that means Boats and Cubscouts blowing off steam - into sails that is. Come show off your shipbuilding skills and win a trophy. July 6th 2008 at Eaton preserve on 135th Street. Check in time 1:30pm to 2:00pm, races start at 2:00pm. Questions e-mail Kathy Maloney at kmaloney@rcklawfirm.com or call 815-254-9624.


July Camping - Pack Family Camping at Starved Rock State Park
Friday, July 18- Sunday, July 20
Because this event is out of our district, we need to file a local tour permit. Please contact Jennifer Woods at 815-577-9636 or jennifer.woods1@comcast.net, by May 31, to confirm attendence so that the permit can be filed in time. We plan to hike, do fun activities and games, and have an awesome campfire on Saturday night. Come for the whole weekend or for just one night. Let’s get out into the great outdoors! A campground map is available online at this website.
Directions: From Interstate 80 Get off at exit #81 (Rt.178, Utica). Go south 3 miles on Rt. 178 and follow the signs into the Park. The Youth Camping area is located next to the main camping area.

    What's RCSR?

    Reservation is a 755 acre preserve, located in Grundy County, approximately seven miles southeast of Morris and twenty-five miles southwest of Joliet. It is land that is specifically owned by Rainbow Council, and has a long history in the area of providing a fantastic forested setting for overnight camps and one-day events. Every site for camping has running water and pit toilets, but there is no RV camping or electrical hookups at Rainbow Council.

    Here's the Council's Map of the Reservation to give you an idea of the area, and all of the links below and above that say "RCSR" link to this map for directions. You can even zoom in that map and see that Council Office.
